Traffic & Road Works Debacle

To: Greenfields Residents for information re ongoing traffic mayhem on Ellesmere Road

Communication to Shropshire Council Leaders / Shropshire Council Executive / Shrewsbury BID and Local Councillors

Am sure you are aware that Ellesmere Road / Greenfields (and other) residents and motorists have had ‘a summer of discontent’ with weeks of suffering the impact of the traffic debacle caused by the council’s poorly designed, badly planned and ineffectively delivered ‘upgrade?’ road scheme at Castle Foregate / Railway Station.

The approach to town is appalling, traffic management is badly operated and hundreds of vehicles with engines running are an ongoing and serious problem for residents and pedestrians.

Across most hours of the day it takes 40+ minutes to travel a quarter of a mile.

Previous complaints have been shrugged off by paid council officers and the actual work continues at ‘snail pace’.

Surely this cannot be allowed to continue for a year?

Is the council not accountable to ratepayers?

I have not been able to obtain any help locally, the town centre BID is unable to assist and thus am writing to ask for details of a higher authority that tax paying residents might contact for some help in organising a professional review of this disastrous scheme.

Could an officer or councillor kindly supply.

This contact, once received, will be circulated to anyone in Greenfields requesting the information.
